  • Notes
    • - Not sure about bap record, but as Byard family is also from Ratcliff, Stepney. Patience Byard’s grandfather Thomas lived in Ratcliff until his death.
      - Have listed two sets of parents for John. John Player and Sarah Curtiss.
      - John likely died in 1811 as 1811 land tax records list him as an occupant, but 1812 list Patience Player as the occupant. 1811 directory also lists Patience Player (which it wouldn't if her husband were still alive). Checked St Dunstan burial records for 1811 and 1812. Nothing, although there is a few entries which refer to the daybook and the fact that no note was received.
      - 1796, 97, there is a Christopher Player living on Craven Street in property owned by Sturtt Esq.
-“For No 15 Craven Street. Executors of Richard Adey for Joseph Hemming, the purchaser in 1819. Goes back to 1766 when Humphrey Sturt leased to John Calvert land in Hoxton Fields at the back of Charles Square and Jenkinson Gardens of 5a 3r. In 1786 Calvert sold land to James Craven [which became site of Craven St]. In 1793 William Manypenny leases 12-15 Craven St to John Player, who in 1805 leases No 15 to Richard Adey. (1) Also abstract of title of Joseph Hemmings for 3-5, 8 & 16 Craven Street from 1806 dated 1827, (2); further abstract of title 1766-99 for Craven Street (3) and draft conveyance from Joseph Hemmings to George Briant of Myrtle St Hoxton of 3-5 & 8 Craven Street, 3 January 1827” From http://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/7f0f7254-7442-4100-9d23-3c84aff581ae

All of the sons were watchmakers (can’t find Daniel or George). Suggests some family history of watchmaking.
