    • - In a family history, X Burk states that the family is from CountyMonaghan in Ireland. This statement seems to be confirmed by thepresence of a Benjamin Burk in

      - Possibly brothers are Joseph (according to family history he marrieda Catholic and moved to the NW Territories; older brother) and Richard(younger, had lots of children and moved to Australia).
      - Other possible siblings are William and Bridget. Not sure of sourceof this claim.

      - Patent for Con 2 Lot 20 1/2 W was originally to John Ray 1843,George Ray 1844, John Naylor 1853, 1854.
      - Note from Mariposa, the banner township : a history of the Townshipof Mariposa, Victoria County, Ontario, p 75. There was an Irishsettlement in Mariposa Township on Con II around Lot 5 and 6 in 1847.John Brown Tapp (Bible Christian Missionary) wrote: I have secured abond to the connexion half an acre upon which to build a chapel andburying ground. To help these people the committee must grant me 10pounds. This will be a fine settlement but the people are low atpresent not having paid for their land… There are 15 in the Society,all Irish, do we as a church not owe something to Ireland?"
      - In 1861, Bethesda Bible Christian Church was built on Con 2, Lot 20(where David Burk originally farmed). There was a burying groundbehind the church. Church closed in 1889. The land was owned byAbraham Laidley. (Mariposa, the banner township : a history of theTownship of Mariposa, Victoria County, Ontario, p 77)
